Let’s meet our second Biggest Loser Challenge contestant – Poko, she is a 5-year-old Shih Tzu Cross.  On April 24th her weight was 9.4 kg (20.7 lbs) and she should ideally be about 5.4 kg (11.9 lbs).  Poko had a weigh in on May 14th and is already down to 8.9 kg – a loss of 0.5 kg (1.1 lbs) after having been on Metabolic for just under 3 weeks!

Poko’s owner describe her as a very loving, sweet dog that likes to “talk” to people.  Her favourite toy is a bunny which she carries everywhere and always sleeps with.  Her owner says she treats it like it were her own puppy.  Poko also enjoys chasing squirrels in the backyard.  Her owner tells us she has yet to catch one, but probably wouldn’t know what to do if she did!

Losing weight, says Poko’s owner, is important to help her lungs and heart.  Right now there is so much fat surrounding these organs that they have to work extra hard to function.  Weight lose for Poko will  not only improve her life but increase her longevity as well.

Poko’s  owner’s tip: I soak her kibble to help her feel fuller.

Good luck Poko!
